HLA’s Simon Ratigan captures children at their most innocent in this touching new film for Save The Children, juxtaposing the beauty and peacefulness of childhood slumber with the harsh realities of life in poverty. In the first spot from the newly merged Adam&EveDDB, Simon worked closely with Ben Tollett and Emer Stamp and travelled to hugely deprived areas of the UK, Bangladesh, Nepal and Liberia meeting the youngest victims of poverty. Beautifully shot and set to an emotive instrumental soundtrack, the ad highlights Save The Children’s ‘No Child Born To Die’ campaign.

To emphasize the need for action, we staged a catastrophe and a rescue mission of the 12 year old girl Melika at the Copenhagen Central Station in August 2014.
The goal was to get passers-by to interact digitally through Instagram with the installation to raise awareness for the coming annual national fundraising for Save The Children Denmark.

The ad features nine-year-old Gerald whose home was destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines in 2013. Gerald, the eighth of eleven siblings, encouraged his family to evacuate their home in the small village of Tacloban and seek refuge in a nearby school, where they sheltered as the typhoon destroyed the area around them. Gerald’s family’s fishing boat – their means of earning income at the time – was lost in the disaster yet despite this Gerald still courageously continues to help his family and local community by whatever small means possible.
